Safety Guidelines & Tips
Some advice on how to get the safest experience.
- Use your true identity
Dinehome is a network for you and the people who are living in your city. Using your true identity and honestly representing yourself are key parts of being a Dinehome member.
- Being clear about arrangements
It is essential that any arrangement is clear from the outset: agree in advance the start time and the end time of the dinner. Also, bear in mind that occasionally unforeseen circumstances may mean that a host or a guest has to cancel or postpone a visit. In this case, we kindly ask you to let the other party know as soon as possible and remember that the ability to be flexible helps considerably in this case.
- Try not to be late
Be sure to contact your match and let him or her know about any delays you have. Don't forget to charge your phone! If you happen to be behind schedule, please call your match and let him or her know. Have your phone turned on and charged at all times on the day of your dinner.
- Be yourself
Be open about who you are. To save time when communicating, try to put the most important facts about yourself on your presentation.
- Keeping in touch
Exchange contact information with your match and contact him/her whenever you need to inform them about any changes to your plans.
- Getting there
Check with your match to see if they’re able to pick you up from your location. If for any reason you aren’t sure where to go, don’t hesitate to contact your match and ask for assistance. If possible, look your host’s neighbourhood up before arriving, including how to get to and from there on your own.
- Prepare Everything
Make sure to discuss all the details of the meeting with your match in advance. Knowing the timing and possible meeting points will save time and make things run more smoothly. Always carry your cell phone with you. Make sure you will be recognised on the day of the first dinner and set a clear meeting point and time. Don’t hesitate to contact the other member a few hours before the meeting time to make sure they are on time and ask whether they need help getting to the meeting point.
- Introduce yourself
Introduce yourself to your match. Tell him/her about yourself/your family and why you participate in Dinehome.
We advice you to write in English for the first connection, and make sure to keep up and respond quickly.
- Learn more about your match
Read their presentation and feel free to ask for any additional information. Be Informed about the other members' culture and be sure you’re aware of cultural and religious differences and sensitivities.
- Always keep tabs
We strongly recommend communicating with your match via Email/WhatsApp to make sure there is a record of your interaction in case of any disputes that may arise.
Keeping it fun!
Relax! When meeting members, make sure you are rested, in a good mood and eager to have a good time and socialize at the dinner.
